Hurricane Classic Powered By Prospect Wire Event Preview

Prospect Wire is excited to welcome 12 High School Varsity teams to Manatee County, Florida to participate in the 2nd Annual Hurricane Classic Powered by Prospect Wire. The games will be played at GT Bray (home of Manatee High School) and Parrish Community High School. The 12 team event welcomes ten teams from across the state Florida and two schools from the state of Tennessee.

We are excited to see a few former Prospect Wire All Americans who will be in attendance for the Hurricane Classic such as:

Ford McCarthy (2026, Bolles): The 2023 Prospect Wire All American alum is one of the top players position players in the 2026 class. Ford impressed at our Vanderbilt event in 2023 with his athleticism in the outfield and barrel accuracy at the plate.

Grayson McCarthy (2027, Bolles): Grayson, the younger brother of Ford, was an impressive 2-way player at the 2023 Prospect Wire All American Weekend that can run his fastball into the upper 80s and has some juice in his swing.

Ryland Beumel (2027, Hardee): The 2023 Prospect Wire All American alum has made some impressive strides since we saw him last. Beumel has added noticeable strength to his physique and has gone from being a guy who consistently found ways on base to now adding gap to gap power. Beumel earned some valuable experience last season playing up the middle along side the Dodgers 1st round draft choice Kellon Lindsey.

Ashton Hovda (2026, Manatee): The 2024 Prospect Wire All American is a key piece to the Hurricanes offense and his defensive versatility is a big reason why the Hurricanes have gotten off to a hot 6-3 start to the season.

Wesley Anderson (2026, Parrish Community): The 2024 Prospect Wire All American MVPitcher looks to continue his impressive start to the 2025 season. Anderson is currently 1-0 on the season with a 2.90ERA and 13K's over 9.2IP.

We are excited to welcome a number of stand out players to the event such as:

Casey Johnson (2026, Barron Collier): Johnson leads the Cougars offense with a .448 average, 13 hits and 14 runs scored.

Brody Graham (2025, Barron Collier): Graham is a 2 sport stand out on the football field, but is off to a great start for the Cougar baseball team this season as he is hitting .414 through 10 games with 9RBI.

Gabe Gonzalez (2025, Bolles, Mercer): Gonzalez is the leader behind the plate defensively and also leads the Bulldog offense. Gonzalez is off to a great start in 2025 as he is hiting .429 with 16 RBI and 2HR's through the first 10 games.

Rylan Baker (2026, Bolles, VCU): Baker had to miss a few games due to injury at the start of the year, but talent 2-way prospect is back making his presence known for the Bulldogs.

Peyton Vaughn (2025, Davidson, Carson-Newman): Vaughn is a reliable backstop for the Bears and traditionally a force in the middle of their lineup.

Carson Flanagan (2026, IMG Blue): Flanagan has been dominate on the mound for IMG as he has picked up 23K's over only 11.2IP.

Ty Harvey (2025, Inspiration Academy, Florida State): The IA backstop is a top player in the 2025 class with a plus catch and throw ability in addition to a high level bat. Harvey is hitting .550 with 11 hits and 11 runs scored in 8 games played.

Jackson Bradley (2025, Inspiration Academy, Lander University): The big RHP can light up the radar gun with his fastball and has been the ace of the IA pitching staff with 17.2IP and 23K's.

Cooper Richardson (2026, Manatee): The Hurricane ace is an impressive 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA with 21IP. Richardson has drawn the toughest opponents thus far on his team's schedule and he's answered the call going at least 4IP in every outing with no more than 2 runs allowed in any outing.

Max Mullett (2025, Manatee): Mullett is hitting an impressive .500 to start the year as he is 15 for 30 with 4 XBH's. Look for Mullett to help guide the Hurricane offensive attack this week.

Kaine Baber (2025, Maryville, Citadel): Baber anchors the Rebels lineup and defense as shortstop. Baber is off to a nice start in 2025 with a hit in every game thus far in the season.

Daniel Norbeck (2025, Parrish Community, SCF): Norbeck has stepped in nicely to a Bulls pitching staff that has a history of success. Norbeck showcases an electric Fastball and power Slider that has given hitters trouble all year as he's collected 30K's in just 16.1IP.

Brock Budreau (2027, Port Charlotte): Budreau impressed the Prospect Wire scouting staff at the Memorial Day Showcase in 2024 when he was coming off a tremendous Freshman season with Port Charlotte. Budreau was 87mph from the OF and had a number of 90mph exit velocity recordings during BP. Budreau is a key piece to the Pirates offense and pitching staff. He is a physical young player with impressive power at the plate. On the mound, Budreau leads the Pirates and is 2-0 with 21IP and 30K's on the season..

Jasper Davis (2026, Port Charlotte): Davis is a big left handed hitter with serious power potential. Davis already has 2 HR's through the first 10 games of the season.

Reed Backstrom (2025, Port Charlotte): Backstrom is another impressive 2-way player for the Pirates as he is hitting .429 on the season along with 4 doubles and on the mound is 3-1 with an impressive 0.34 ERA in 5 appearances this season.
