The Top Tier Roos East Coast tryout was held this weekend at SportMatrix in Vero Beach. Although mother nature forced the tryout to be held exclusively indoors, we still go a great look at some the great talent the East Cost Roos have in the program. Thank you to Billy & his staff with the East Coast Roos for the hospitality to our staff!
Standout performers include:
JT McLaughlin (2026 RHP/OF): McLaughlin has a projectible frame with a smooth, efficient delivery on the mound. With impressive spin metrics (FB: 2436; SL: 2330) and solid velo (FB 85-87mph) McLaughlin has the stuff to be a front line starter for the Roos this summer. He should be an intriguing prospect to follow as he continues to develop on the mound this Spring and Summer.

Nate Downey (2026 OF/RHP): Downey is a solid 2-way prospect that showcased good stuff on the mound Friday in his bullpen with his fastball topping out at 89mph. Downey also impressed in his BP session showcasing above average bat speed that generated some pull-side power.

Tyler Hagan (2026 LHP/OF): Hagan is another intriguing 2-way prospect. On the mound, Hagan's 3/4 arm slot generates some armside run that pairs will with his multi plane curveball and a late downward biting changeup. Hagan also had a good performance during the BP portion of the tryout. Starting open and finishing closed he looks to use the middle of the field utilizing his advanced barrel accuracy.

Jaedon Lawton (2028 RHP): Lawton displays athletic movements on the mound and engages his lower half well throughout his delivery. Lawton showed good feel for his three pitch mix (FB/CB/CH) that all profiled above average.

Jack Torresson (2029 RHP): Torresson was one of the most impressive arms from his class with great stuff. With raw mechanics, but a impressive arm talent Torresson should continue to add velo and consistency as he matures. His fastball was 80-82 that he pairs with a nice 12-6 curveball to change speeds. Torresson will likely miss a lot of barrels if he is around the zone.

Jacob Cotgreave (2026 OF): Cotgreave has a strong, athletic build. He has a strong effective load that he's able to transfer through impact effectively. Cotgreave was one of the more impressive bats of the group!

Greyson Brown (2027 C): Brown is a physical 2027 backstop who displayed impressive catch and throw ability. Brown was also one of the top bats for his age group. Brown keeps his barrel in the zone for an extended period of time which will allow him to find barrels consistently.
