Venice
Coach Craig Faulkner has built a tremendous history of success at Venice HS which has produced numerous professional and collegiate players while also bring home team accolades such as winning 5 state championships in the 2010's. The Indians are still looking for their first state title this decade, but their 2025 team is as poised as any team they've had under Coach Faulkner to bring home the ultimate hardware. Returning a majority of their team from 2024 that lost a heart breaker in the Regional Final last year to Windermere, along with the adding a few key transfer players, the Indians have their most talented team in recent history.
Venice has built a reputation for utilizing the small ball game, playing team defense, and being creative with their pitching staff. The Indians will return key players from last year's squad such as David Dubrule (2025 SS, Army), Jackson Lucas (2025 LHP/1B, Troy), Nic Dunn (2025 OF), Carter Cox (2026 OF/LHP), Jonathan Mauro (2027 C), August Backman (2027 OF/P), and former Prospect Wire All American Graham Houston (2027 IF). Look for a trio of transfers to contribute this season for the Indians in Eddie Zaun (2025 3B, Miami), Ben Todd (2027 IF) and former Prospect Wire All American Mateu Dalmau (2026 1B/LHP).
The 2025 Venice lineup will be as deep and versatile as any lineup in the state 1 through 9. Look for the table setters like Dubrule, Houston, Lucas, Cox, and Dalmau to find ways on base while power hitters such as Zaun, Dunn, and Mauro will likely have plenty of opportunities to drive runners in. On the mound look for the Indians to lean on their two lefties who led the way on the mound for the Indians in Jackson Lucas and Carter Cox. Another LHP who will likely be in the mix will be Mateu Dalmau who comes to Venice with previous Varsity level experience on the mound with 28.2IP and 30Ks last season.
