Coach Fitz-Gerald and his Stoneman Douglas Eagles have made a name for themselves over the last 5 years as they have won 4 straight State Titles dating back to 2021 and 3 National Titles from 2021-2023. The talent pool for the Eagles seems to be endless as each year they reload with new talent. The 2025 Eagles team will be led by 8 NCAA D1 commits that return off of the 2024 State Championship team.

Coach Fitz-Gerald will lead his 14th season with the Eagles in 2025 as they will look to pick up their 5th straight state title. The Eagles return a number of players from their 2024 State Title winning team including Seniors Bennett Gary (2025 OF, Miami), Drew Freeman (2025 C, Louisville), Erik Torres (2025 SS, EKU), Nick Diaz (2025 OF, College of Charleston), and Michael Ossenfort (2025 3B). They will also lean on a strong Junior group that includes Gio Rojas (2026 LHP/DH, Miami), Lorenzo Laurel (2026 OF, Florida), Jake Rizzo (2026 1B, Dayton), and Luke Cherry (2026 LHP, UNF). The Eagles will welcome back Chase Wildroudt (2025 RHP) who missed last season due to arm surgery and has been up to 91mph since making his recovery.

The Eagles are a strong favorite by many to pick up their 5th straight state title. Look for the Eagles to have a dangerous lineup 1 thru 9 with extra base threats like Nick Diaz (.375 with 6 doubles, 3 HR's, 23 RBI, 23R's in 2024) and Bennett Gary (.316 with 4 doubles, 2 HR's,  17RBI, and 16R's in 2024). On the mound, the Eagles have one of the best LHP in the country in Gio Rojas who threw 21.1 Innings last season with 41K's with only 3 walks and 7 hits allowed on the season. Luke Cherry will look to pick up some more innings this year after a solid 2024 season where he had 14.1 Innings with 22K's and only 2 runs allowed.
