2025 PW Spring Break Classic Event Preview

Prospect Wire is excited to welcome 9 High School Varsity teams to Polk County, FL to participate in the 2nd Annual PW Spring Break Classic. We have 8 teams from Florida and then a team from New Jersey in Don Bosco Prep.


We are excited to welcome a number of stand out players to the event such as:

Jake Armstrong (2026, Cardinal Mooney): Armstrong is a toolsy player with a plus arm and power potential at the plate. Armstrong is having a nice season thus far with a .333 avg, 1HR, and 10 RBI. Armstrong is 3rd in IP for the Cougars with 15Ks in 12.2 innings.

Micah Page (2026, Cardinal Mooney): Page is a reliable catch and throw backstop for the Cougars and really impressed with Knights Knation during our Memorial Day Event as he had a number of XBH's and handled the pitching staff impressively all weekend.   

Colton Hyde (2027, Cardinal Mooney): Hyde leads the Cougars in just about every pitching category this season with 24IP and 25K's. Hyde has plus control on the bump surrendering only 2 walks this season.

Wyatt Hossenlopp (2026, Cardinal Mooney): Hossenlopp is having a nice Junior season as he is hitting .400 with 13 runs scored and 14 RBI. Hossenlopp has been the catalyst for the Cougars impressive 11-2 start to their season.

Nicky Becker (2025, Don Bosco Prep, Virginia): Becker is one of the key pieces for a loaded Don Bosco Prep squad. Becker will draw the attention of MLB scouts this Spring as he is a candidate for the 2025 MLB Draft.

Chase Bagley (2026, Don Bosco Prep, Maryland): The Terps commit is a utility player with a plus bat from the left side. Look for Bagley to provide some power to the Don Bosco lineup.

Jayden Pena (2025, Don Bosco Prep, Manhattan): The big right handed hitter is another player to keep an eye on for Don Bosco. Pena will be headed to Manhattan next year to add to the impressive line of players that Don Bosco has sent off to the next level.

Michael Hanna (2026, Don Bosco Prep, Virginia): Hanna is a plus athlete that patrols the outfield for Don Bosco. A smooth left handed swing provides some speed to a lineup filled with guys who can pick up an extra base hit at any moment.

Ethan Lee (2026, Don Bosco Prep, Virginia Tech): Lee is an impressive RHP with a power fastball and an impressive secondary arsenal to pair.

Carter Sprague (2026, Lakewood Ranch):  Sprague leads the Mustangs in just about every offensive category including hits (16), average (.421), Runs (11), and stolen bases (14).   

Hayden Antonelli (2025, Lakewood Ranch, Palm Beach State): Antonelli is a talented 2-way player for the Mustangs who is just behind Sprague in most of those offensive categories and then leads his squad in just about every pitching category. Antonelli has 22IP and 15K's on the year for the Mustangs.

Ashton Hovda (2026, Manatee): The 2024 Prospect Wire All American had a great week at the Hurricane Classic Powered by Prospect Wire breaking him out of a little slump he started the year off with. Hovda is a plus athlete with high level defensive instincts in the OF and IF.   

Cooper Richardson (2026, Manatee): Richardson has led the Hurricanes in just about every pitching category which is nothing new as he has been one of the Hurricanes most reliable arms the past two seasons. Last week at the Hurricane Classic we saw him up to 85 which is good too see his velocity trending upwards to pair with his pitchability.   

Jordan Roberts (2026, Manatee): Roberts is a long, lean right handed hitter with who also had a good week at the plate at the Hurricane Classic Powered by Prospect Wire. Roberts performance helped lead the Hurricanes to a 3-0 week.   

Max Mullett (2025, Manatee): Mullett leads the Hurricanes with 17 hits on the year and carries an impressive .447 average into this week. Look for Mullett to be a spark plug for the Manatee offense.   

Darrion Marchman (2026, Middleton): Marchman is off to a great start this season as he leads the team with 11 hits and a .423 average.

Tate Hancock (2025, Middleton): Hancock has started his Senior season off nice with a .333 average and 10 hits. Leading his team with 7 RBI and a HR on the year.

Zachary Philmon (2026, Middleton): Philmon has been the ace for Middleton's staff as he leads the team with 20IP and 25K's through 6 appearances.

Reed Backstrom (2025, Port Charlotte): Backstrom leads the Pirates offensive attack with 17 hits and a .436 average. Backstrom has been a doubles machine with 6 already on the year.   

Brock Budreau (2027, Port Charlotte): Budreau is off to a little bit of a slow start for his standard, but nonetheless is still having a great year with 10 hits and 4 doubles. He's also found great success on the mound with 26.2 IP and 39K's. Budreau is a very talented 2027 that will be a high level prospect to follow this summer.   

Cayden Ruby (2026, Port Charlotte): Ruby is off to a great start for the Pirates as he has 17 hits and an average of .375. Look for Rubs to help lead the Pirates offense this week by finding ways on base.   

Jasper Davis (2026, Port Charlotte): Davis is a big physical left handed bat with 2 doubles, a triple, and 2 HR's on the season thus far.   

Mark Metcalf (2026, Sarasota, UNF): Metcalf is off to an impressive start for the Sailors as he leads the team with 20 hits and a .435 average. He has also led the offensive attack for the Sailors as he's scored 19 runs so far this season.

Braedon Mackay (2027, Sarasota): Mackay is an impressive 2-way player as he is 2nd on the team in hits with 14. Mackay has 17IP with 26K's so far this season.

Patrick Drymon (2026, Sarasota): Drymon is off to a great Junior season as he is hitting .316 with 12 hits and 11 RBI. Drymon has also picked up his share of XBH's with 4 doubles and a triple.   

Cesar Garmendia (2026, Sarasota): Garmendia leads the Sailors staff with 23IP and 27K's on the year. He has yet to surrender an earned run on the season which is impressive through 5 appearances.   

Hamlet Perez (2026, Sarasota): The big lefty has 16.1 IP and 22K's on the season for the Sailor's pitching staff.   

Owen Kircher (2026, South Fort Myers): Kircher leads his team in average (.481), hits (13), and doubles (5).

Criss Morillo (2025, South Fort Myers, Heston College): Morillo is a nice utility player for the Wolfpack who will be attending Heston College next year.

Juan Angeles (2025, South Fort Myers): Angeles has gotten off to a great start for his Senior season with a .357 average and 3 Triples so far this season. He also leads the teams in runs scored.

Gabriel Montoya (2025, Southeastern Prep, Tallahassee State College): Montoya impressed with Figs Baseball at a few PW events in 2024.   

Sebastian Rivera (2025, Southeastern Prep, Tallahassee State College): Rivera is an intriguing 2-way prospect who was up to 89 on the bump in December. He has also impressed at a number of PW events with his bat.   

Oliver Martinez (2025, Southeastern Prep): Martinez is an impact bat for Southeastern Prep who has also had success at PW events in the past.
