IMG Gray vs. Parrish Community Recap

Prospect Wire HS Coverage:

IMG Gray @ Parrish Community

A pitcher's duel broke out early at Parrish Community HS as the Bulls squared off against IMG Gray. Parrish's starter, Wesley Anderson (2026 RHP) was dominate all night as he went 6IP with 8K's allowing only 2 hits with no walks. Anderson's command of his fastball/slider/changeup mix was impressive as he utilized both sides of the plate. The 2026 Prospect Wire All American MVPitcher found a feel for his slider in the middle innings which really gave IMG a hard time the second time through the order.

IMG's starter, Mason Montjoy (2026 LHP), was effective in his own right going 4.2IP with no hits allowed and 6K's. However, Montjoy's command was a little shaky which is to be expected early in the season as he gave up 4 walks leading to him being pulled in the 5th given his pitch count was approaching 70 pitches in the first week of the season. Montjoy leaned on his fastball most of the night which gave the Bulls hitters a tough time.

IMG turned to Chris Gist (2026 RHP, La Salle) in relief who was able to get his team out of the 5th stranding his inherited runner at 1B. Gist was a nice change of pace arm as he came in with more velocity and a heavy fastball from the right side.

Offensively the Bulls struck first in the 6th as they plated two runs. Bishop McKinney led off the inning with a walk and proceeded to steal 2B on a failed pickoff attempt. The Bulls top hitter, Tyler Cripe (2025 UTIL, Navy), then drove in the first run of the game with a double down the LF line.

Cripe would come around to score two batters later as Jonathan Maassen (2025 C, FGCU) picked up a RBI double of his own. Up 2-0 the Bulls looked to close the game out in the 7th turning to Vince Barry (2026 RHP)Barry was the victim of some bad luck in his one inning of work after a dropped foul pop up turned into a single, hit by pitch, error and a sac fly quickly became two runs tying the game. Barry was able to produce two ground outs to bring an end to the inning with the game tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the 7th.

IMG retired the first two Parrish hitters in the 7th looking to take the game into extra innings. However the Bulls 9 hole hitter, Tyler Brown (2026 OF), had other plans. Down 0-2 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, Brown pulled his hands through on an inside pitch to catch a barrel out to LF for a walk off home run through the dense fog. It was like something out of a movie as there was a delayed reaction from players and fans given the fog was so thick that nobody was certain where the ball had landed.

Coming in to last night the Bulls had yet to be tested in their 2025 campaign prior to last night as they had outscored their last four opponents 74-6. But last night was certainly a good measuring stick for how good this Parrish team can be as they stepped up when they needed to thanks to clutch performances from their top players and came away with the victory. Parrish will travel to Palmetto next Wednesday for their next game and IMG Gray will take on Sunshine State Elite Academy on Tuesday at home.
