The 2025 Firecracker Classic is underway in Southern California at Great Park Sports Complex. The 15U Division wrapped up play recently, with The Humildes 2028 taking home the title after a hard fought battle with West Covina Dukes 14U, who was playing up an age division and competed nicely. Let's take a look at some of the top players that were seen by our scouting staff:
2028 Kingston Monette RHP
LA Rockstars
Kingston has a big strong frame with a quick whippy arm. He has good tempo and stays in his legs well. In his 4 innings of work, he showed he had good feel for all three of his pitches. His commands both sides of the plate with his overpowering fastball sits 83-85 topping 86. He compliments his fastball with a curveball sitting 75-77 with good 12-6 action and a cutter sitting 79-81. He ended his outing with 7 strikeouts in 4 innings with no earned runs.
2028 Carlos Ramirez RHP
The Humildes 2028
Carlos has a long lanky frame with a smooth delivery and a quick arm. He displayed his confidence in both his pitches throwing them early and often. He works downhill filling up the bottom of the zone with his fastball sitting 76-78 and his curveball sitting 67-68. In his 10 innings of work on the weekend he had a tournament leading 14 strikeouts, posted a 1.40 ERA, and earning 2 wins.
2028 Gary Garcia 3B/SS
The Humildes 2028
Gary has a strong athletic frame with a short compact swing and good bat to ball skills. He stays connected and has a good lower half. Gary was consistently finding barrels all weekend notching 5 hits and posting a 0.500 batting average to help his team win the Firecracker 15u Championship.
2028 Eric Garcia INF/RHP
The Humildes 2028
Eric has a lean athletic frame that showed a lot of versatility this weekend. Offensively he has a smooth consistent load and twitchy hands allowing him to make a lot of loud contact. On the mound he has a simple repeatable motion with good feel for both of his pitches. On the weekend Eric had 5 hits posting a 0.455 batting average and in his 4 innings of work on the mound he had 4 strikeouts and only allowed 1 earned run.
2028 Hunter Thai LHP
Cal Sand Dawgs 15u
Hunter has a wirey frame with a free and easy delivery with great feel for both of his pitches. His fastball sits 68-72 with late arm side run and his curveball sits 55-57 with good depth. Hunter had a spectacular weekend on the mound tossing 9.2 innings with 11 strikeouts and posting a 2.17 era.
2028 Chaze Ploenzke 3B/C
SoCal Bandits 15u
Chaze has a strong athletic frame and is a presence in the box. He has a balanced setup with a smooth consistent load and good barrel accuracy. He stays in his legs well and showed flashes of his power potential. Chaze made loud contact all weekend racking up a tournament leading 9 hits and posting a 0.818 batting average.
2028 Kyle Whaley C/OF
CBA/SSC American 15u
Kyle has a lean athletic frame that projects well to the next level. Defensively he takes good angles in the OF and makes strong accurate throws. Offensively he has a smooth consistent load that allows him to stay balanced and on time. He stays in his legs well and keeps his hands inside creating a lot of loud contact. On the weekend he went 8 for 17 posting a 0.471 batting average.
