2026 PW Firecracker Classic Preview

Prospect Wire continues its West Coast summer circuit this week in Irvine, California, for the PW Firecracker Classic. Year after year, the Firecracker Classic attracts some of the top travel programs on the West Coast and has helped produce countless Prospect Wire All-Americans. This year’s event looks poised to continue that tradition. The tournament features 39 teams across the 15u through 18u divisions, with clubs representing every corner of California and one team from Colorado. Hosted at premier facilities throughout Irvine, the Firecracker Classic has become one of Prospect Wire’s signature summer events, giving players an opportunity to compete against elite competition. With championship aspirations and plenty of high-end talent spread throughout the field, expect several players and teams to elevate their level of play over the course of the week. Here are a few teams and organizations to keep an eye on as action gets underway.

NC Valley (Modesto, CA): NC Valley is one of the premier travel baseball organizations on the West Coast and a familiar name at Prospect Wire events. The program has built its reputation on developing high-end talent, fielding fundamentally sound teams, and consistently competing for championships. No matter the event, NC Valley is always a program capable of making a deep playoff run. This weekend, the organization will be sending three teams – one in each age division – to compete in the PW Firecracker Classic. They enter the tournament with plenty of momentum after an impressive showing at the San Diego Invitational, where the 15u and 18u squads captured championship titles while the 16u team finished as runner-up. With talent throughout the organization and confidence carrying over from their recent success, NC Valley is once again positioned to contend for multiple championships. Expect all three squads to be among the teams to watch as they look to add even more hardware to an already impressive trophy case, which now sits at 9 PW Championships overall, 4th most on the west coast and tied for 11th overall.

CBA (San Diego, Sacramento, and Los Alamitos, CA): CBA is a nationally recognized travel baseball organization with affiliates spanning the country. Known for its commitment to player development, high-level instruction, and producing college-level talent, the organization has established itself as one of the premier brands in travel baseball. No matter the affiliate, CBA teams are known for competing at a high level while preparing players for success at the next level. This weekend, CBA will have a major presence at the PW Firecracker Classic, sending affiliates from San Diego, Sacramento, and Los Alamitos with a total of eight teams competing. The organization will field four teams in the 15u division, two in the 16u division, and two in the 17/18u division, giving them plenty of opportunities to make noise throughout the tournament. Leading the way is the Victus SD 2028 squad, which enters the weekend with momentum after capturing the 16u championship at the San Diego Invitational. With talent spread across every age group and multiple affiliates capable of making deep postseason runs, CBA will be one of the strongest organizations in the field. Expect several of their teams to be in contention on the final day of competition as they look to add more hardware to an already impressive resume, which includes a now west coast leading 12 PW Championships overall.

Firehawks Baseball Academy (Los Angeles, CA): Firehawks Baseball Academy is a well-known travel baseball organization on the West Coast circuit that has earned a reputation for elite player development and fielding fundamentally sound, well-coached teams. Their emphasis on developing complete players and competing the right way has made them a respectable program wherever they take the field. This weekend, the Firehawks will send their 15u squad to compete in the PW Firecracker Classic. Entering a talented field, they’ll look to make an immediate impact during pool play and build momentum heading into the playoff bracket. With a disciplined approach, strong coaching, and a roster capable of competing with anyone in the division, the Firehawks have all the tools to make a deep run into the championship round and establish themselves as one of the top teams to watch throughout the weekend.

West Coast A’s (San Diego, CA): The West Coast A’s are a well-established travel baseball organization on the West Coast circuit, known for their commitment to player development and preparing athletes for success at the next level. Their focus on building complete players through quality instruction and competitive baseball has made them a respected program and a consistent contender at top events. This weekend, the organization will send three teams – one in each age division – to compete in the depth, talent, and coaching needed to compete with some of the top programs in the tournament.
