2025 WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
The West Coast Championships return to Mesa, AZ for the 13th time in the last 15 years. Prospect Wire’s first tournament outside the state of Florida was created back in 2011. This year’s event will take place at the Chicago Cubs Spring Training Complex at Riverview Park in Mesa.
“We are excited to return to Mesa and work with the Cubs once again. They have a great facility and we look forward to the action over the next few days being just as hot as the Arizona temps are,” remarked PW President Brian Werner.
Let’s take a look at some of the teams to watch as we head into the first west coast PW event of the 2025 summer season:
ANGELS BASEBALL (Tempe, AZ)
With 6 PW Championships as an organization, the AZ Angels rank 4th all time out of west coast based organizations in that category. Attending Prospect Wire games since the early days, the Angels continually bring top talent to Mesa in search of another title. With multiple teams in the 18U/17U division, and 1 in the 16U, the Angels will surely be a threat to make some noise in the playoffs.
AZ SANDLOT (Phoenix, AZ)
Winners of 5 Prospect Wire events over the years, AZ Sandlot has always been one of the teams competing for another title year after year in Mesa. They will bring an 18U team to the event this year, in search of their 2nd West Coast Championship title overall.
IDAHO PROSPECT BASEBALL (Garden City, ID)
A back to back 2 time winner of the San Diego Invitational recently, the IPB Spuds are headed to the Arizona desert to mix things up this year. A program that has delivered some top level talent and eye popping action on the field, is excited to bring their rocky mountain brand of baseball to the city of Mesa. Based on their past history at our events, it’s almost a guarantee that we will be hearing from the Spuds on the final day of the event.
MARUCCI ATHLETICS (Peoria, AZ)
What can you say about the 9 time Prospect Wire tournament champions from Peoria??? The Marucci Athletics trail only CBA Wave/CBA Victus and TB SoCal (10) for most championships from a west coast program in PW history. 2 time winners of the West Coast Championships, the Athletics have not claimed a title since 2014. They are looking to change that with two teams in the 16U/15U division. We are looking forward to getting our first looks this summer at 2028 Soto and 2028 Thomas when they take the field tomorrow in Mesa.
NEVADA PROSPECTS & TOP TIER LAS VEGAS (Las Vegas, NV)
Two more out of area teams are ready to hit the field at the Cubs complex this weekend. Both from the 702, the Nevada Prospects and Top Tier Las Vegas will be looking to do what only one program in Nevada has done…win the West Coast Championships. Both will be competing in the 18U/17U division and we expect them to bring a lot of fireworks from Sin City to the Arizona desert.
NOMADIC BASEBALL (Mesa, AZ)
Winners of 5 Prospect Wire championships as well, Nomadic Baseball has quickly made a name for themselves at our Mesa events. With all 5 of their titles coming at this event in the last 2 years, Nomadic will be looking to break their tie with Canyon Thunder for West Coast Championship titles. A 3 division winner in 2024, they will have 4 opportunities to claim gold this weekend, with 3 teams in 15U/16U and 1 team in 17U/18U. Recent history suggests Nomadic will have something to say about this year’s last ones standing.
